The normal species that begin calling first each season were delayed about a week from the average emergence time. As of today, 27 June 2014, Tibicen tibicen (chloromera), T. lyricen are calling in the morning, with Neocicada hieroglyphica joining by midday. Tibicen lyricen is calling at dusk now. As the sun was going down I kept seeing more and more to the point where I had to run to get out of the mega swarm but I couldn&#8217;t escape. I ran FAST for about two long blocks in Horror movie fashion. While looking out the front door you could see them flying, hundreds in all directions. I don&#8217;t remember the news making any announcements. It then walked up the wood fence. I did not know what it was but was informed later. I see them and FEEL them buzz by my hair. So far I have seen at least 5, all living. And 3 that my dog found already dead. There are 3 shells still on my wood fence. See them (praying that I don&#8217;t) any time of the day. In fact, they are the dominant cicada calling in the morning!
